On M30 engines, the rocker arms are held in position by a spring. This spring can allow lateral movement of the rocker causing it to fall off the valve-stem which will result in a broken rocker and failed engine.

VAC’s rocker arm locks eliminate this failure mode and positively locate the rocker arm on the shaft.
